Cooking Games: Midnight Snack

It’s late and you’ve been up playing cooking games or chatting with friends. When you get the urge to snack, you want to go for something better than greasy chips or loud popcorn. You need to be sneaky and you need something to fill you up and help you settle down to sleep. After all, you really shouldn’t be up past midnight anyway.

Milk
It might seem silly and childish, but a big glass of milk will help to fill your tummy and make you feel nice and comfortable. Milk, especially whole milk, will sit with you for a while letting you settle into bed and sleep deeply without a tummy grumble in sight.

Bananas
If you’re remotely athletic and occasionally suffer from muscle cramps and Charlie Horses, these irritating events almost always occur in the middle of the night. If cramps are making it hard to sleep, sneak downstairs in search of one of nature’s perfect foods – a banana. A banana is nicely filling, full of vitamins, and most importantly has plenty of potassium which is one of the easiest way to help prevent cramps.

Bread
If you want to go through the effort of creating an entire sandwich, be my guest. It will be far easier, however to just grab a few pieces of bread and munch while you work. If you want to get fancy, you can toast the slices and smother them with jam, but regular slices of regular bread work well enough to give your stomach something to work on while you sleep comfortably in your bed.

Cooking Games: Mud Pies

If you were a rough and tumble kind of kid it’s likely you’ve had your time in the mud making the favorite of childhood – mud pies. But even now you don’t have to let your childhood go. You can still make yummy mud pies, or as some would say, dirt cakes, easily enough.

Head the store and grab a container of Oreo cookies, chocolate instant pudding, milk and gummy worms. Then head back home. Prepare the pudding according to the instructions and put it in the refrigerator to start cooling off.

Throw about half of the Oreos into a thick plastic bag and seal it tightly. Then grab a rolling pin. If you don’t happen to have a rolling pin lying around, you can also use a heavy mixing spoon or just about anything with crushing power.

Get to work crushing the Oreos into oblivion. Your ultimate goal is to have nothing left but very fine Oreo crumbs with no crème visible. Your plastic bag should be full of delicious chocolate dirt.

Grab your now chilled pudding out of the fridge and pour some into pudding or regular cups. If you want, you can stir in a bit of Oreo dirt first, or leave the pudding smooth. Once you’ve spooned in the pudding, spoon up a layer of “dirt” on top. You should have pudding covered completely with dirt. For a final touch, add a gummy worm half in and half out of the pudding. Ta-da! Mud Pies!

Ice Cream Sundaes

It’s hot outside, and there is nothing more refreshing than a cold dish of ice cream. But why stop your with a single scoop? Why not get elaborate and truly enjoy your ice cream. Make it an ice cream sundae!

Sundaes are a lot of fun to make, but even more fun to eat. Make your ice cream experience a cooking game! Grab your BFF and head to the grocery store. Start with the ice cream. Vanilla is standard, of course, but it can also be rather blasé. If you love it great – grab it. If not, consider using other flavors or grab a few and make a multi flavored sundae.

When you’ve got the ice cream, it’s time for the real fun. Walk down the candy aisle and have a blast. Grab any candy that strikes your eye, and don’t forget the chocolate syrup. You might also want to swing by the nuts for some almond slivers or peanuts if the taste suits.

Finally, no sundae would be complete without whipped cream, sprinkles and cherries, so hunt those items down and throw them into your cart. Pay for the entire assortment and head home. When you get there, you might discover that you have way more ice cream and toppings than you’d ever need for two people. Why not call up your crush and invite him (and his cute friend) over for some ice cream? *wink*

Bonfire Cooking Games

Heading to the beach or camping out? You’ll need a blanket or a towel, some charcoal or wood and a cooler full of food to play this cooking game. You’re going to have a bonfire, and eating under the stars has never been so much fun.

Head to an area that’s secluded, not counting you and your five best friends, of course. Grab an adult and make sure you have a safe area for a fire. There shouldn’t be anything overhead or close by that might catch fire from your flames. You also want to be sure you’re allowed to build a fire in your choice of locations.

Once you get your fire started using wood you’ve brought or found – or just charcoal if you’re using a fire pit, wait for the flames to die down and the fire to smolder just a bit.

Now, it’s time to cook!

Grab a stick and thread on your hot dogs. You can roast them over the flames. Put a can of chili down in the embers next to the flames and be sure you use tongs to remove it – it will be hot! Make chili dogs and grab some chips. Then, be sure you roast marshmallows for dessert. Yum!

Perfect Your Food Skills

If you’ve always wanted to be a chef, cooking games are a great way to practice your old skills and learn new ones. Cooking and preparing food is as old as the human race, but it is a constantly changing skill set that requires updating on your part if you want to be the best or at least on your way to the top.

Food Skills
If you’re seriously considering going into fine cuisine someday, not just flipping burgers and frying up nameless objects, you’ll need a lot more practice and training than online cooking games can offer you. But that isn’t a reason to shun the cooking games altogether.

Cooking Games
Cooking games might not teach you the delicate arts of the pastry chef (although I’m sure there are some out there that might), but they can help you build up your speed and endurance through endless rounds of food preparation. Most chefs spend hours in a hot kitchen making dishes over and over again. Cooking games are great at helping you learn to tolerate monotony and high demands for speed.

You can also learn a few basics from cooking games. These might be things like the layers on a burger rather than the layers in a mousse cake, but still – you’ll need that information some day. You’d just better hope you need it in fine dining rather than fast food.

Pizza Party!

It’s time to have some friends over for a pizza party! No, you don’t want to order pizza ahead of time for this party – you’re going to make your very own. It’s not hard to do and it takes almost no time to prepare. You can have the party tonight!

One of the best cooking games, making pizza is simple, but can be a lot of fun, especially around your friends. Buy ready made crusts at the grocery store or use the dough sold by biscuits. You can also use plain biscuit dough as well to make the crust of your pizza. If you’re health conscious, you can even use tortillas.

Since your friends will get to make their own pizza, you need to have an assortment of toppings. Brown some hamburger meat ahead of time and put it in a bowl. Buy pepperoni slices and lots of cheese. Cut up some of your favorite veggies and have them ready in separate bowls.

Then, when your friends arrive, pass around the pizza sauce, spread it on the crust and get started decorating your pizza with any design you want – including any toppings you want. When the pizzas are ready, bake and then everyone plop down in front of a favorite show or movie to eat and enjoy!

The Perfect Pizza

Why is it that we think pizza should only come with pepperoni and cheese? Your perfect pizza is a symbol about who you are, and more importantly – what you like on your pizza. You can create perfect pizzas in your own kitchen or in many of the online cooking games – or both! Just be sure you experiment at least once.

Start with crust. Even if you’re unconventional, it’s hard to skip the crust part of the pizza. If you’re in your kitchen, you can even use biscuit dough or tortillas for crust. Sauce is totally optional and there are different choices of sauce out there including marinara and alfredo. Live a little!

Add whatever kind of cheese you want – if you want it, and then get started on the toppings. Pepperoni is pretty standard, but don’t feel compelled to add it based on principle. You might also like sausage, hamburger or ham instead.

Don’t forget your veggies! Mushrooms, olives, onions, spinach and other veggies can all be used on pizza quite successfully. Give them a try – you might like it!
