Cooking Games and Campouts

There are so many fun things to cook when you’re on a campout. Playing around with a campfire especially makes things a bit more interesting, and you’ll have to get creative about what you do with only one pot and a small grill.

When playing cooking games over an open campfire, you’ll need to be very aware of how you’re handling yourself. Fire safety is a huge concern cooking outdoors. Be sure to use long-handled utensils to avoid getting burned and use the edges of the fire, the hot coals, to do most of the cooking. You don’t want to risk setting you or your food on fire, after all.

When planning a meal for a campout, the cooking games will need to include a few different kinds of food if you’re hoping to finish everything at one time. The hamburgers might be cooking on the little grill while the beans cook in the can on top of the fire. Fruit is in the cooler and drinks are ready and waiting in the thermos.

The nice thing about playing cooking games over an open fire is that there are no back-up plans. You can’t just throw a cup of noodles in the microwave or make some quick nachos. It’s all you, all the time – and that make the cooking games fun.
